July 29 & 30, 2002 East Coast premiere performances of "Metamorphosis" for piano quartet on Martha's Vineyard, MA

This piece, which had been commissioned by Chamber Music Palisades, will receive its East Coast premiere performances on July 29 in Edgartown and July 30 in Chilmark on Martha's Vineyard, Ma. Pianist Delores Stevens will lead the ensemble (violinist, violist and cellist tba).


Commission by Pacific Serenades for the 2002 Concert Season

The Los Angeles based chamber music series Pacific Serenades has commissioned Gernot to write a piece for clarinet, bassoon, horn, violin, viola, violoncello and contrabass. The musicians will be Helen Goode-Castro -cl, Judith Farmer - bsn, Brian O'Connor - horn, Roger Wilkie - vln, David Walther - vla, David Speltz - vc and Bruce Morgenthaler - cb. Performances are scheduled for Saturday, May 11, 2002, 8:00 pm at the home of Mary Anderson in Brentwood, Sunday, May 12, 2002, 4:00 pm at The Neighborhood Church in Pasadena, CA and Tuesday, May 21, 8:00 pm at The UCLA Faculty Center, Los Angeles.

March 4, 2002 World premiere of "Moods in Blue" for bassoon and piano at a concert of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Chamber Music Society

David Breidenthal, principal bassoonist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and pianist Gloria Cheng will perform the world premiere of "Moods in Blue", a commission by David Breidenthal, on Monday, March 4, 8:00 pm at Ahmanson Hall at the Skirball Cultural Center, 2701 North Sepulveda Blvd., West Los Angeles. The concert is part of the 2001-2002 season of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Chamber Music Society.

U.S. Premiere of "CONTINUUM III - Fantasies for a Blue Bassoon" at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles

Gernot's "CONTINUUM III - Fantasies for a Blue Bassoon", a chamber orchestra piece featuring the bassoon, will receive its U.S. Premiere on Friday, February 22, 8:00 pm by the Thornton Chamber Orchestra (conductor: Christopher Fazzi, featured bassoonist: Judith Farmer ). Performance of “Duo for Flute and Bassoon #1” at the Church of the Lighted Window in La Canada, CA

Gernot's composition "Duo for Flute and Bassoon #1" will be performed by flutist Susan Greenberg and bassoonist Judith Farmer on Sunday, February 10, 4:00 pm at the Church of the Lighted Window, 1200 Foothill Blvd., La Canada, CA. Also on the program will be compositions by J.S. Bach, Frank Bennett, Loillet and Jolivet. The additional featured musician will be harpist Gayle Levant. February 8, 2002 U.S. Premiere of "Silences" at the Dunn School in Los Olivos, CA

Gernot's composition "Silences" for flute, harp, violin, viola and violoncello will receive its U.S. premiere on Friday, February 8 at the Dunn School in Los Olivos, CA. The musicians will be Susan Greenberg - flute, Marcia Dickstein - harp, Amy Hershberger - violin, Victoria Miskolczy - viola and Matt Cooker - violoncello. Compositions by Bandon, Beethoven and Dohnanyi will also be on the program.

October 30, 2001 Performance of “Trilogy for Oboe, Bassoon and Piano” in Wels, Austria
The Ensemble Metamorphose (Prisca Schlemmer - oboe, Robert Buschek - bassoon and Katrin Flick - piano) will perform "Trilogy for Oboe, Bassoon and Piano" on Tuesday, October 30 in Wels. Austria. Other featured composers will be Dutilleux, Francaix, Nancarrow, Schlee and Schmidinger.

October 23, 2001 World premiere of "Metamorphosis" for piano quartet, a commision by Chamber Music Palisades, Pacific Palisades, CA

Gernot has received a commission from Chamber Music Palisades to write a piece for piano quartet (violin, viola, violoncello and piano). The composition - "Metamorphosis" - will be premiered on Tuesday, October 23, 8:00 pm at St. Matthews Parrish, 1031 Bienveneda Ave., Pacific Palisades, CA. The musicians will be violinist Ida Levin, violist Evan Wilson (principal, Los Angeles Philharmonic), cellist Wilhelmina Smith (Mannes Trio) and pianist Delores Stevens. August 10 , 2001 Performance of “Trilogy for Oboe, Bassoon and Piano” at the IDRS Conference 2001 in Morgantown, West Virginia
Oboist Marion Arthur Kuszcyk (associate principal, Los Angeles Philharmonic), bassoonist Judith Farmer (former principal, Austrian Radio Symphony Orchestra) and noted Los Angeles studio pianist Bryan Pezzone will perform Gernot's composition "Trilogy for Oboe, Bassoon and Piano" at the 30th Annual Conference of the International Double Reed Society on Friday, August 10 at 11:15 a.m., Gladys G. February 19, 2001 Performance of “Reflections” for violin, clarinet and piano at Carnegie Hall
The Michigan based Verdehr Trio (Walter Verdehr - violin, Elsa Ludewig-Verdehr - clarinet, Silvia Roederer - piano) will perform Gernot's composition "Reflections" on Monday, February 19, 2001, 8:00 p.m. at Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall, New York City. This will be the New York premiere of the piece.

December 1 & 3, 2000 Performance of "CONTINUUM III - Fantasies for a Blue Bassoon"
Gernot's "CONTINUUM III - Fantasies for a Blue Bassoon", a chamber orchestra piece featuring the bassoon, will be performed on December 1 (Bregenz/Austria) and December 3 (Feldkirch/Austria) by the Symphonieorchester Vorarlberg (conductor: Christoph Eberle, featured bassoonist: Allen Smith)

October 9, 2000 World premiere of "Three Short Stories for Viola and Bassoon" at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles
Violist Brian Dembow (of the Angeles Quartet ) and bassoonist Judith Farmer will perform the world premiere of Gernot Wolfgang's composition "Three Short Stories for Viola and Bassoon" on Monday, October 9, 8:00 p.m. at the Arnold Schoenberg Institute Recital Hall, 3443 Watt Way, University of Southern California Campus, Los Angeles. Also performed will be the Sonata for Violoncello and Bassoon, KV 292 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Four Romantic Pieces, Opus 75 by Antontin Dvorak and Quartet in C minor for Piano, Violin and Violoncello, Opus 60 by Johannes Brahms. The additional performers are Margaret Batjer, violin, Cecilia Tsan, violoncello and Robert Thies, piano. 

Commission by the Jazz Big Band Graz / Austria

Gernot has recently completed writing an original chart for this ensemble, which is headed by saxophonist/conductor Sigi Feigl and features prominent Austrian based musicians like Heinrich von Kalnein, Gerald Preinfalk, Herwig Gradischnig (saxophones), Fritz Pauer (piano), Wayne Darling (bass) and John Hollenbeck (drums).

March 2000  World premiere and additional performances of "Reflections" for violin, clarinet and piano by the Verdehr Trio
The Michigan based Verdehr Trio (Walter Verdehr - violin, Elsa Ludewig-Verdehr - clarinet, Gary Kirkpatrick - piano) will play the world premiere of Gernot's composition "Reflections" on Sunday, March 5, 5:00 p.m. at the Phillips Collection, 1600 21st Street NW, Washington, DC. Additional performances of the piece will be on March 21 at Ecole Nationale de Musique, Fresnes/France (near Paris), on March 23 at the Guild Hall School in London/England, on March 27 at the Karajan Center in Vienna/Austria and on March 29 in Zlin/Czech Republic.

August 15-17, 1999 Martha's Vineyard Chamber Music Festival 1999
"Trilogy for Oboe, Bassoon and Piano" will be performed by Gerard Reuter (of the Dorian Wind Quintet) - oboe, Judith Farmer - bassoon and Delores Stevens - piano on August 16 and 17, 1999 at the Martha's Vineyard Chamber Music Festival, Martha's Vineyard, MA.

Gernot's composition "Duo for Flute and Bassoon #1" will be performed by Marybeth Minnis and Joanna Cowan White at the 28th Annual Conference of the International Double Reed Society, August 11 at 3:30 p.m., Morphy Hall at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. May 27, 1999 World premiere performance
The Los Angeles Mozart Orchestra Chamber Players will present the world premiere performance of Gernot Wolfgang’s composition "Trilogy for Oboe, Bassoon and Piano" on Thursday, May 27, 8:00 P.M. at the Skirball Cultural Center, 2701 Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles, CA.
Other pieces on the program include "Three Songs for Soprano and Piano" by Aaron Copland, "Sonata in F minor for Clarinet and Piano" by Johannes Brahms, "Three Songs for Soprano and Clarinet" by Gordon Jacob and "Trio for Oboe, Bassoon and Piano" by Francis Poulenc.
The performers will be Camille King - soprano, Leslie Reed - oboe, Amanda Walker - clarinet, Charles Coker - bassoon and Lucinda Carver - piano.
General admission is $25 (Skirball members $23). An additional performance of Gernot's piece is scheduled for Sunday, May 30, 2:30 P.M. at the Huntington Library, 1151 Oxford Road, San Marino, CA.
